Where are we going?

One of our happy places we go to sit and slow down

I am sitting here at my second job working security. I could be doing worse things I suppose. I just watched an Amtrak train zoom by with its horn just a blaring. As I watched this train and many like it scream down the tracks I wondered where all those people are going.

So, that is my question to all of us. Where ARE we going in such a hurry?

From a one million mile vantage point top down we could sum it up like this. From the cradle to the grave. That is assuming that your parents were more fortunate than the parents of Jesus. They did not have a cradle for the savior of the world. Not even a hotel room. They had a manager and some hay.

So, if your parents were able to afford you a cradle you are doing pretty good. I think we can all agree that there is a beginning and an ending. None of us get out of this mess alive.

Depending on your age, you may or may not have been on this journey very long. If you are like me your train is coming towards the end of the track sooner than later. You already have miles and miles of life behind you. You have been on this journey for much longer than most folks. My wife and I are in our 60’s so I doubt we are going to make it another 60 years. I will be happy if we last for another 10 or 20 years. I am hopeful that our health holds out and that we can enjoy the rest of the ride.
