Way back when we built our first website using Netscape Navigator. I also used to wait for the ding and "You have mail" announcement on AOL. I have lived through every iteration of social media for sure. It can be just so much noise on most days. if you are careful you can get good interaction from folks that you follow such as here on Medium. There is nothing wrong with just turning it off for a period of time. The idiots will all be here when you return.
