Self Care in 2024

I work two jobs and my wife is a teacher. We do not have a lot of together time during the week. My day starts at 8:30 am and ends around 11 pm. Luckily we can stay in contact through Telegram. We have that chat client installed on our smart devices and we can talk back and forth during the day. That keeps us connected. Technology, used in the right way can be a huge help.

I refuse to work on Saturday and Sunday. Those days are reserved for together time and rest. Our time to be close and to recharge our batteries for the next week. A time for reflection, reading, and writing. Sometimes we get cleaned up and go out for a meal. We run errands and then wind up back at home.

On Sunday I volunteer in some capacity at church. Sometimes I volunteer on the safety team or I drive a church van to take our local veterans back and forth to church services. It is a way to give back to the community which I think is important.

Today I spent this morning catching up to my reading on Medium daily digests. I follow several people on Medium and I love to read their stories. One of the recurring themes was centered around self-care. Making positive changes to our lives and the daily routines.

In 2024 I want to encourage everyone to engage in self-care. We live in a crazy world full of deadlines. We have lists and lists about lists that we feel obligated…
