Has your attitude about Thanksgiving changed now that you’re older? If so, how?

The holiday season such as Thanksgiving and Christmas seemed to be more magical and special when the children were younger. There was a sense of anticipation in the air. As far as my attitude about Thanksgiving, it has not changed. I try to be thankful about the basics of life all year long. During Thanksgiving we seem to have the time to hit pause and reflect on those things we are thankful for.

Do you have a big family dinner for Thanksgiving?

Now that the kids are grown and gone and we are empty nesters, no.

What is your favorite part of the day?

The nap….

Have you decided to stop celebrating Thanksgiving? If so, why?

No, we always take the time to find somewhere to go to have a Thanksgiving meal by ourselves and we try to include our adult children that live here locally.

Do you carry any family traditions forward?

We did not have any family traditions to speak of.

What does Thanksgiving mean to you and how did that meaning come to be?

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the good things in our lives.
