Recently Katy and I joined a social group on Facebook called Charleston SC Friends. We decided that since we do not have a lot of friends our age maybe it would be good to look within our local community to find some new friends. What is funny is that this particular group is filled with 20 to 40 year olds. We are in our 60’s now which means that many of the events these youngsters find entertaining just wears us out to read about them.

One of the events, which is right up my alley is the semi regular poker game that is hosted in our area. Poker, as a game, is illegal in the great state of SC. Video poker and real poker or any game that requires the use of dice and or other betting instruments. Well, something like that. I have the definition all wrong but just know that it is illegal. I love playing poker. Not only Texas Holdem but all variations of poker. I play at a game in Surfside Beach every 3rd Saturday of the month. That is 90 minutes away from me.

We are also members of Summerville Over 50 Facebook group. These people are in our wheel house. 50 years old or older. Most of these seniors are retired and living the good life. They are living in Summerville which is a nice rural town outside of the Charleston Metro area. Like most towns it is plagued by constant growth so the small town charm is being slowly destroyed. They like to play music bingo and hold events…
