Kristina Lynn Moffitt aka Koalie Moffitt arrived this morning at 0543. I was deep in dream land and had forgotten to set the alarm for 0545 which is when I normally get up and get ready for a 7 am shift downtown Charleston.

Kristina arrived home after a 3 or 4 day Amtrak ride from San Diego California. My daughter turns 30 this year. She is my free spirited nomad who has been roaming North America since….. well after she quit high school and got her GED. Just think of her as Jenny in Forrest Gump minus the heroin addiction and AIDS.

Little did we know, there is an entire eco system located on Facebook that allows total strangers to share rides and a room to stay in no matter where you are at. Kristina told us of times where they would camp at a KOA camp ground and hitch rides with total strangers as they rode in their RV’s traveling from city to city. I cannot imagine asking a total stranger for a ride to a different city in their RV. I guess it is acceptable in this day and age.

Sure, when I was 18 or 19 I hitchhiked from Houston Texas to Dallas Ft Worth because I did not have a car. Home was the Dallas Ft Worth area and I always got homesick around Thanksgiving and Christmas. I never really gave it a second thought with regards to hitchhiking being dangerous. That was back in the 1980 era. I guess I am dating myself here.
