I graduated high school in 1980. There was no such thing as online dating. You met someone you liked and you figured out how to communicate with them how you felt and where you wanted that to go. In other words you had to ask a lady out on a date in such a way that you did not look like a dork or an idiot and the lady would have to find you attractive enough to take the risk. I have always said that social media has not made us more social. What it has done is just the opposite. Why is online dating so horrible? It is because men and women alike have a persona in their minds of who they are and they put those personas online for others to see. Some people do not even use current photos of themselves. Then when folks meet for the first time they are shocked. Who they envisioned after reading the online persona is not who they were meeting for the first time. Then you have people who are only interested in the one time hook up and have no desire to KNOW who the other person is and could care less about a long term relationship. I guess as long as both people are up front about that then they are good to go. My how times have changed indeed.
