Holiday Decorations

For some of us celebrating Christmas includes the dreaded decorations. We drag them out of the attic or in my case the storage shed. Like most things, decorating your home for the holiday season takes time that maybe you don't want to invest.

So that leads us to that question that nags us. Do we do it or do we just say the heck with it and not do it? For those of us that are empty nesters, we are less and less motivated to spend the time to decorate. My sweet wife loves putting up the Christmas tree. Our tree is fake, so it is easy for her to pull it out of the box and set it up. Katy is allergic to pine so we cannot have a real tree.

That leaves me with the task of putting up the Christmas lights outside. Last year we lived in a 3-bedroom home that had a fence for the front yard and the carport. We were renting that house so it was easy for me to string Christmas lights on the top of the fence. The Christmas lights were solar panel lights and they come on automatically at dusk. Those lights worked for an entire year and were working when we bought our own home in Sept of 2021. When we moved I just left them where they were.

This year I ordered a set of solar-powered lights from Amazon. I spent all of 20.00 on the lights. When they arrived they sat in the box on the dining room table for about a week. Every time I saw them I was reminded of the pending task at hand. I got off of work early one day and decided to get it over with.
