  1. Job Boards and Application Process:
  • Job boards have become central to the job search. Platforms like LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Indeed, and ZipRecruiter have revolutionized how we connect with potential employers.
  • The convenience of the “easy apply” button has made submitting applications faster, but it also means that more people apply for the same positions. Some employers still require detailed information even after clicking that button.
  1. Recruiters and Multiple Job Boards:
  • Recruiters play a crucial role in matching talent with job openings. However, the sheer volume of applications they receive can be overwhelming.
  • Interestingly, I noticed the same job postings appearing across different platforms. Recruiters often cast a wide net to find suitable candidates, which can lead to redundancy.
  1. Age and Job Search:
  • Age discrimination is unfortunately prevalent, affecting both older and younger job seekers.
  • When recruiters say, “While you have an impressive background, we have decided to go with another candidate,” it can be frustrating. Sometimes, it’s not about qualifications but other factors like team dynamics, cost, or perceived adaptability.
