Daily ramblings from a baby boomer

I do not feel particularly inspired by much today but in an effort to keep writing I figure I will chatter about stuff going on with me or around me.

I am sitting at work working the 2nd 12 hour shift this weekend. Basically I am keeping an eye on a DoD site making sure the building does not burn to the ground. The building is locked up tight so it is not difficult for me to sit here and breathe. Every 2 hours I get off my butt and do a 6 minute round on the inside and scan all 9 of the check points that have been designated as important.

Sometimes I get a wild hair and I will go out and walk the exterior of the property just to get some extra steps in. Friday night a cold front swept over the East Coast and it drizzled all day yesterday. I did not get many steps in yesterday so I made it a point to go out and walk around the property a few moments ago. It seems to have warmed up a bit and I could hear different types of birds singing in the tree line at the back side of the property. A passer by coming from the Food Lion parking lot offered me a bottle of water which I thought was nice.

As a baby boomer, working this security gig on the weekends brings in some residual income which is necessary. Working 12 hour shifts destroys any weekend so I have to bring my laptop and iPad with me so I can have things to occupy my mind. Otherwise I would probably go out of my mind because of boredom. The only thing to watch are 4 security cameras and the cats who come to the front door to eat food we leave out…
