Colonoscopy successful, I survived
I can only imagine how many people will read that title and scroll on past.
For the last 11 and almost 12 years I refused to get this procedure done. There was something invasive sounding about the procedure. You are going to put a camera up where and for how long and why? That kept going through my brain and my decision always ended in a HELL NO. It is not happening to me. PERIOD.
As fate would have it several people both offline and online kept telling me that the reason for having the colonoscopy is simple. Colon cancer is no cake walk. About 5 years back I kept seeing commercials for Cologuard. Its simple. We send you a box and you put a poop sample in it and we send it back. Sure, easy enough I thought. So, the box came, I did the deed and shipped it off. The results came back positive. The instructions in the box also said there was a chance that the results could be a false positive or negative.
Fast forward to 2023 and I kept seeing articles on my beloved Medium who spoke of the importance of having the procedure done. Just suck it up, put your big boy britches on and just do it already. I scheduled the event for today, July 20th. That means that yesterday was preparation day. I had to drink 64 oz of Gatorade with powerdered Miralax in it. I also had to take 4 laxative pills.
