Bowling from a wheel chair
One of the only sports that I can still participate in is bowling. For years I played basketball but that was several decades ago when I was much lighter on my feet and in better health. In the last 10 years or so I decided to take up bowling. (I just typed blowing and thought that does not sound right. LOL)
At one point around 2002 I was working a contract job in the Greenville SC area and I bowled in 3 different leagues during the week. I was living away from home in a hotel during the work week and so I wanted to do something to keep my mind occupied vs sitting in the hotel missing my family. I still missed my family but bowling helped me to not dwell on it.
When you do something a lot you tend to get better at it. So, it was not uncommon for me to break the 225 or 275 barrier on some of my games. A perfect game is considered a 300 and I have gotten pretty close to that. I think a 289 was the closest I ever got.
Fast forward to now and I am doing good to bowl a 158 game. Most of the time I bowl around a 120 average on a good day. There is that thing called hand eye coordination which I think I lost years ago. I tell my mind I want to throw my ball across the second arrow from the right on the lane and I inevitably wind up throwing it across the third arrow and then my ball goes down the alley and hooks to the left into the 7 pin. It drives me crazy when that happens. Apparently my brain and my right arm are no longer communicating efficiently.
