At 63 I have not been to a lot of funerals. I remember my grandmother passing in 1980 which is when I was a senior in High School. It was a stormy day when we buried her. My adoptive father passed in 1990 due to cancer and had a military funeral. I could not go to one of those or watch one on a movie without having to get up and leave. We buried our 1 year old daughter in 2001 just before 9/11. That was no fun. At some point funerals became celebrations of life. i am not sure who came up with that but I like it. A celebration of life seems more appropriate. Thank you for sharing your story with us.
