Abandonment
Today my wife Katy and I did what we normally do on Saturday morning. We drank a cup of coffee and I ate a breakfast sandwich. I scrolled through my email and Katy probably did the same. Around 10 am or a bit earlier we went back to sleep. We slept until around 12:30 pm. Then we took showers, got dressed and got ready to go.
Getting ready to go means picking up all the stuff that I like to cram in my pockets on the way out the door. That includes the following items.
- eye glasses
- wallet
- lens cleaners
- keys
- medicine
- knife
- phone
- on some days a handgun
I drove to the restaurant and ordered drinks and waited on the waiter to come back with drinks and rolls. While I was waiting I put my hand on my left hip and much to my dismay my phone case was MISSING. It dawned on me that I left my phone in my office charging and it was not on my table by the recliner.
Out of sight and out of mind.
I thought to myself, well that is just great. How am I going to entertain myself while I am waiting on the waiter? Thanks to my smart phone I am constantly entertained while waiting for life to happen. We all feel that way, right?
